SUMMARY:Great Shakeout Earthquake Drill
DESCRIPTION:The Great ShakeOut is a worldwide earthquake drill occurring on Thursday\, October 15\, 2026\, at 10:15 a.m.!\nThe Great ShakeOut is an opportunity for the Centralia College community to learn more about earthquake preparedness and how we should react when the ground starts shaking. The best way to be prepared is to be more informed and practice what we learn through a live drill.\nOn October 15\, 2026\, at 10:15 a.m.\, Safety & Security will activate the college-wide emergency alert system informing everyone to Drop\, Cover\, and Hold On. After several minutes\, an all-clear message will be sent out using the campus emergency alert system. The drill will not include building evacuations. Please do not evacuate after the drill has ended.\nASSESS – We encourage you to look at your office\, workspace\, or classroom and identify hazards such as unsecured bookshelves\, file cabinets\, and heavy items that should be anchored to the wall or floor. In the event of an earthquake\, know where you would seek shelter from falling debris\, such as getting under a sturdy desk or table.\nDROP\, COVER and HOLD ON – When the ground starts shaking you MUST FIGHT THE URGE TO RUN! You are at greater risk of being hit\, or even buried\, by flying debris if you run outside. When an earthquake starts\, immediately DROP to the floor\, take COVER under a sturdy desk or table\, and HOLD ON to it until the shaking stops. Furniture will shift with the shaking and holding on will help you move with it and maintain cover over you.\nSTAY DOWN – Do not come out until the shaking stops. This can take a while due to aftershocks and smaller ground tremors that follow the main earthquake.\nEVACUATE – Once all shaking has stopped\, immediately exit the building through the closest\, safest exit and contact others in the area to let them know you are okay. The drill will not include building evacuations. Please do not evacuate after the drill has ended.\nLocation:\nCampuswide
